Call it marketing in paradise?

on November 15th, 2005

Last weekend I was at Big Seminar 6 in LA and I was talking with my friend Andrew Fox.

You may not have heard of Andrew but by tomorrow you will have. I’ve known him since 2003 when, big surprise, I met him at Big Seminar 2 in San Francisco. He’s a clever marketer with a ton of energy and creativity and it’s made him a lot of money on some brilliant campaigns which almost always sell out within days.

I asked him what he’s been up to and he showed me a beautiful white leather bound book with poster sized pages of a beautiful $4,000,000 yacht. The coastal scenery was stunning and the pictures of the inside were lavish and high tech. The sleek white yacht intrigued me, but when Andrew said he was going to kidnap 4 top marketers and take off with them on this yacht my Maverick imagination caught on fire.

Talk about a top notch JV proposal… he was going to selected people at Big Seminar and showing them what he was going to do… that’s smart. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of something as cool as this?

This has never been done before. It’s brilliant. And he was true to his word.

This past weekend he got my friends Jeff Walker, Jo Han Mok, Dave Mizrachi and Ewen Chia on that gorgeous yacht and spent their time on the boat having a $4 million dollar mastermind — and of course he recorded the whole thing and is making the DVD’s available in a huge launch tomorrow.

You can see the pictures on his website here.

I heard from Jeff that the info they dragged out of each other on that amazing journey is priceless and I’m not surprised. There is something about combining creative geniuses in a stimulating environment and letting them rip… especially if they can’t leave until they’ve given up the really good stuff. :)

Who are these guys?

Jeff Walker was the ’six in seven’ guy who did six figures a few times in just one week… but now that he launched his own product he’s done over triple that in the first 24 hours I think so he’ll have to get a new nickname.

Ewen Chia is an affiliate marketing machine. If you want to know how to promote other people’s products and make a bundle, he’s the guy to watch because he’s consistently one of the top affiliates for great products.

Dave Mizrachi is not only a highly accomplished niche marketer, but he is the ‘website wizard’ that many top marketers turn to for their killer minisites. He’s got the formula down for creating sites that convert and has turned that knowledge into gold for himself and his clients.

And Jo Han Mok is not only a copywriter and author, but he’s also a sharp marketer from Singapore who has impressed me with his persuasive copy and cool products he’s created. We’ve been speakers at a few events together and he’s always got profitable insights to share.

So, last Friday Andrew Fox flew these 4 top marketers and got them onto a a $4,000,000 yacht in the South of France, paid for their flights, food and drink if they agreed to hold back nothing and spill their most inner secrets and
record the whole thing. on camera.

I just thought that idea was brilliant… and I’m dying to grab a copy of the limited run of DVD’s that Andrew is going to release tomorrow.

I can’t wait to see what these guys talked about… I’ll be ready notepad in hand.

In what has to be one of the most unique moves I’ve seen, Andrew is offering a competition for the first 500 customer… he’s going to give the winner an all expense paid trip to the next Yacht trip with 4 top marketers.

Now that’s a Maverick offer.

I told Andrew I’d tell you about this and extend his invite only offer to get on his notification list ahead of the launch. The site goes live at *EXACTLY* 12pm EST, Wednesday 16th November.

You can go here and sign up for the notification list

You’ll want to get on the notification list in any case to watch some brilliant marketing in action. If you’re curious like I am and want to get your own copy of the DVD’s I’d get yours early because reportedly 10 million emails are going out about this launch with the various JV partners Andrew lined up.

I also wanted to tell you about this because you can clearly see the hand of Jeff Walker’s product launch formula at work here. As I predicted, the sharpest marketers from now on are going to launch limited releases of their products and create some very interesting offers.

Watch and learn… the key element that I love about Andrew’s launch is that he went all out. No one has done anything quite this extravagant before. Ask yourself, what could YOU do that would have this kind of Maverick element when you want to create your next product or promote an affiliate program?

I know, you may well not be in a position to hire a $4 million dollar yacht, but the idea is to do SOMETHING that is different. It’s doesn’t have to be a yacht or anything. Just unique and attention getting.

Remember, the enemy in your marketing is boredom and being invisible.

So catch the excitement Andrew is cooking up tomorrow and sign up here for his notification list.

P.S. I have something completely different to tell you about tomorrow… so keep your eye out for my next email. It’s something I’ve been wanting to tell you about for a long time that I think is probably the most brilliant innovation in Internet Marketing I’ve seen.

The Money Is In The Bar

on November 5th, 2005

I'm sorry you're not here because you missed out on coming to Big Seminar (and I've got something to share with you in a minute on that) but here's what's happened to me since arriving here Thursday.

* I've got new commitments for Joint Ventures from 3 key people that I came here specifically to meet, including one that without exaggeration is probably the single biggest door to ever open for me. If it goes the way I expect, I'll DEFINITELY do a case study that will blow your mind.

* I've met with 5 subscribers who have given me great feedback and I was able to do 2 'sit down brainstorm sessions that I know saved them from making some big mistakes and put them right on track to have real winners on their hands. In fact, Ellen Viollette is a name you'll be hearing me tell you more about because in the last year she's developed a coaching program that I'm looking into since I talked with her last night over coffee and what I've seen so far impresses me.

* I've gotten to reconnect with dear friends and deepen relationships with people I know are fast becoming dear friends. If I listed off everyone it would be obscene name dropping on steroids… this is Big Seminar after all. But it's one of my favorite reasons for coming every time.

* Armand mentioned that I'm 'the list guy' from the stage last night and I was mobbed, ran out of the few cards I had left in my pocket. I have too much on my plate right now to work with all but one or two of them, but just one of will more than cover what I paid to come here many times over.

* I've locked in an opportunity to do something that is high on my list of goals this coming year… to get my upcoming book published and in bookstores and on Amazon. The right guy was here (I told you about him, he's David Hancock) and his 1 day seminar with my friend David Garfinkel was electrifying. I can't wait…

I could go on, but the point is, these deals and opportunities almost all happened inside, or within a few yards of the BAR.

I've bought drinks, including non-alcoholic ones, and been bought drinks and meals and that is where things happen here behind the scenes, beyond the killer content shared by the speakers on stage.

For example, one thing Stephen Pierce said yesterday has been ringing in my head like crazy and I'm going to be using it to break through some challenges I've had with my business and I suggest you strongly consider this too.

If you're stuck on any challenge in your business, Stephen Pierce laid out exactly why: you're trying to do it all by yourself or you don't have the right person on your team. He had everyone go through this 'Brain Game' and discover which of 4 kinds of people we are.

Some people are testers or researchers or creative or action oriented and ALL four are equally valuable, but nobody is great at everything.

You've got to team up with people who do stuff you can't be best at so you can focus on your strengths.

Boy, I'm guilty of that. I am a 'creative' type and see the big picture but there are technical and other stuff like that I just don't like much (and really stink at).

Speaking of networking, I've got to get to lunch for a JV meeting with an eBay expert I'm really looking forward to talking to..

I'll tell you more about what's going on at Big Seminar soon and post some pics.

Meanwhile, let me leave you with this thought. You have to get out of the house and go to an event and team up with JV partners and learn from other people in a live setting.

It's like nothing else and will put your business on fast forward.

Just so happens I'm speaking for the last time this year in a couple weeks at a very unusual 'hands on' workshop that literally will take you step by step through putting together a web business.

I'll be there contributing the list and email piece while some other super sharp folks do the other pieces. It's a rare workshop for several reasons.

1) the one on one workshop environment is very powerful because you get YOUR questions answered.

2) it's a special situation and it's dirt cheap.

So if you wanted to get out to see me and learn in a hands on way and network and team up with partners who could launch your business sky high… this would be my recommendation for a good place to start.

You'll walk out of there with a business in hand.

Anyway, like I said, I've got to run, so go check this out and make your reservations today if you're interested. There were only like 50 spots to begin with and I heard that most are gone.

Get the whole story here…

See you there…

Craig

P.S. Take these opportunities to go to live events seriously because in my experience there is no faster way to leap frog the learning curve and reach your goals. It would have saved me YEARS if I had known that when I got started. Trust me. The biggest 'bad idea' that holds people back is they try to do it all by themselves from home without help. Don't do it. Besides, it's fun to get out of the house and meet fellow marketing nuts.

Farewell to a truly great guy and brilliant marketer

on November 2nd, 2005

I’d like to take a moment to honor Ken Giddens, a fellow marketer who has just passed away.

I met Ken when I spoke at Carl Galletti’s sixth superconference. When I walked off stage Ken made a point to come up and say ‘nice job’. He didn’t even know me at that time and his kindness and sincerity immediately impressed me. I’ll never forget that.

I spoke with him a few times since and in that brief time I learned a lot from him. He was so generous with his knowledge and helpful every time. It speaks volumes about him to have left such a fond memory for me in such a brief time knowing him. Positively one of the good guys.

John Reese’s newsletter the other day made me think about what I would do if I had just 12 months to live. With Ken’s passing, I think his question is all the more important to ask ourselves.

Ken was loved by many and did great things and will be mourned and remembered. I’d like to think he did what he would have wished for his last 12 months.

My thoughts and prayers are with Ken’s family and friends.
