Warning: Virus hits 300,000… causes $800,000 in profits
Ever hear the expression, "mi casa es su casa"?
I believe, in Spanish, it means "my house is your house" and it’s a way of saying you’re a welcome and honored guest.
Well, I have another meaning in mind right now… what’s going on at my house is probably going on at your house.
That’s why I’m going to share my biggest priorities with you because I suspect that they are also pretty close to YOUR biggest priorities.
See, as I told you last time, I started over from scratch mid way through last year and went from having a list of 34,000 plus subscribers to my ‘core list’ of folks interested in Internet Marketing to zippo, due to a contractual agreement. When you hear that I’ve helped build lists totalling over 9 million subscribers for myself and customers… that’s what I walked away from last year, to go on my own and build something new… MaverickMarketer.com.
It’s a work in progress and I’ve never been more excited (and you’ll see why in the coming weeks).
But, back to my story…
I’ve said it probably a thousand times, if you don’t have a list to market to, you don’t have a business… you have a high risk job. Without a list, you have to constantly promote and be on the hunt for new sales.
With a list, you can easily find out what your subscribers want and go get it for them… and they’ll pay you to do so if you give real value in exchange.
Simple math: the more subscribers you are serving, the more money you will make.
Needless to say, starting over with no list like that got my attention and focused my priorities.
Here’s me following my own advice…
When you took my ecourse, the first lesson had you tell me what your biggest challenge was in your business.
Well, I get to learn feedback from my subscribers from the very first email they get from me… and I read every single response.
Want to know what the single biggest problem I read over and over?
"How do I build my list…"
And when I had to start over from scratch you can imagine that I related to the ‘how do I build my list’ problem personally.
Good news is… I happen to know a bunch about how to build a new list… and I have.
Fact is, even though I’ve mostly been working behind the scenes with some key coaching and consulting clients because they want me to help THEM make money with their lists, I’ve got several fast growing lists now that are all very exciting to me.
But… my biggest goal for 2006 is to grow my lists, and that will remain one of my perpetual goals each year because I want to serve as many people as I can.
And I’m going to tell you all about the strategies I use because there is a 78% chance that YOU are interested in this very topic, according to my surveys.
So… ‘my home business is your home business’ in terms of the challenges and priorities we face.
Answer to the number one question: how I recommend you build your list?
Here it is…
One of the ways I’m going to focus on the most in 2006 is viral strategies. That’s where new subscribers find you as existing subscribers spread the word about you.
To some extent it’s already happened for me at MaverickMarketer.com because of the buzz my ecourse generated with folks who went through it.
But I’m talking about viral marketing on purpose.
It’s a strategy that I’ve used little and when I met a guy name Mike Filsaime last year and got to know him, I realized the mistake I had made in neglecting this vital strategy.
He’s build a list of over 300,000 (which grows daily) and pulled in over $800,000 in just two years after leaving his previous career. That means, he’s done what most of us want to do: created massive success in a short period of time.
Of course, everyone’s results will vary… but when someone brings in that much money while technically they could be considered a ‘newbie’ you’ve got to sit down and take notes.
And my note to myself says, "learn viral list building from $800,000 former newbie… Mike Filsaime". Which is exactly what I’m telling you about today.
See, another thing I know about my subscribers is that a decent percentage are starting out on a shoe string budget, trying to figure out what to do, without a lot of room for mistakes.
That’s why I talk about the basics… first of all, I know the basics is where even advanced marketers screw up, but second, I know that’s what most of my subscribers ask me to talk about.
IF I had to start over from scratch with next to nothing, I would want to employ viral list building strategies.
Ha! I am starting over again, so that is why I am picking Mike’s brain about this very subject!
Generally, as the word of mouth spreads, it doesn’t cost you a dime or additional effort… tens, hundreds, even thousands of subscribers can flow into your list without you doing any extra work. If you set it up right, you can automatically make more and more money as this list grows… and that’s exciting.
See, lots of people think TRAFFIC is the lifeblood of your Internet business.
And they’re mostly right.
But… most people go about getting traffic the hard way… over and over again they’re out trying to get more traffic to their site. Whether it’s for Adsense or ebooks, they need visitors to stop by.
Fantastic… problem is, unless you capture a percentage of that traffic on a list of some kind, you won’t ever have a business that can sustain itself without continued effort to get more traffic.
A list is CAPTIVE TRAFFIC.
You can send an email and drive your subscribers to go look at something of interest to them… and you can make money doing so. Your subscribers then become a repeating stream of traffic if you treat them right.
I’m telling you this because whatever you thought your number one priority was for 2006, I’m going to suggest capturing more traffic on a list is right up there near number one.
