I’m glad that this topic is the hot button for my subscribers because it just so happens my expertise in list building and email marketing is what I’m best known for.

Before I started MaverickMarketer.com I made a name for myself as a big list builder and I’ve worked with marketers and business owners of all stripes to not only grow their list, but also make more money in the process. The projects I’ve been involved with have produced millions in sales.

You can rest assured, whatever your business, I’ve probably consulted with someone on the same or similar situation. That’s why when I speak at seminars and workshops, I’m invited to speak on this topic.

Is Email marketing dead?

This year, the whole uproar over AOL and Yahoo starting to charge businesses for guaranteed delivery of certain kinds of mail got everyone all in a flurry.

Last year a lot of folks were saying RSS was taking over.

And in 2003, the passing of the Can Spam act sent everyone running for the hills, worried that innocent permission email marketers would be lined up and shot along with the dirt bag spammers.

While I can’t predict what it will be next, I can tell you the uninformed or the ‘Chicken Littles’ among us will predict the demise of email marketing again sometime soon… and until proven otherwise I’ll continue to not lose a wink of sleep over it.

Why?

My clients and my own lists are doing better than ever, thank you.

Some of the biggest successes in Internet Marketing’s brief history
have happened in the last 18 months!

All those product launches… starting with John Reese and more recently Mike Filsaime pulled in multi-six and seven figure paydays. Heck, my business is growing by leaps and bounds and I make my living from email marketing and by helping clients using my methods.

For sure, there have been changes.

First, HUGE lists are definitely not as popular as they once were. Now TARGETED lists are the thing to have, even small ones can be super profitable.

Second, just an opt in used to be good enough, now CONFIRMED (or Double Opt In as some call it) is pretty much manditory.

Third, before just about any email blast could make money… now you better follow best practices or you’ll probably not even get your email delivered.

Through out all of this two things have not changed…

1) You need a list if you want to succeed online in a big way

2) Few seem to know how to build a targeted list of confirmed subscribers and actually make money doing it

Which brings me to my paradox… nobody wants more email, yet people opt in all the time to newsletters that promise to solve their problems.

Whether you sell widgets online or are promoting an mlm, have Adsense sites or want to launch your own info product, you need to know how to profitably build a list.

I’m being interviewed tomorrow night by none other than Armand Morin (who’s got to be one of the sharpest marketers on the entire planet…he’s always 5 steps ahead) and will be talking all about effective list building techniques.
