Here’s a Guy Sitting on an Internet Marketing Goldmine… And He Didn’t Even Know It. Are you?

I gotta tell you about a guy I met tonight who is currently working security at a hotel in San Antonio, Texas.

He’s literally sitting on a gold mine if he follows my advice… I gotta tell you about this because I suspect YOU may be sitting on just such a goldmine, too.

See, I drove down from Austin for my good friend Pat OBryan’s Unseminar Elite workshop to get out of my office (I get some of my best ideas when I travel).

After dinner I decided to go have a cigar on the 22nd floor and look over the city and I met this security guy having a cigar with another guest of the hotel.

The security guy’s name is Bruce it turns out and he mentioned that he was thinking of starting a website about his passion, Indy Car racing.

As I listened he talked about all sorts of fascinating history and current news about open wheel race cars… and I decided to interupt their conversation and suggest that he start a blog instead of a website.

We got to talking and it turns out he’s been posting videos on YouTube for a while and is active in the forums in his niche.

Get this… he’s got a bit of a following on the message boards and there is a lively community of folks who go online and talk about all things to do with these races.

Then… get this… he tells me that his YouTube videos have been viewed over 630,000 times in the last year.

Needless to say, I was stunned at the incredible opportunity Bruce is sitting on and didn’t know it.

Of course, he’s not really aware of the whole ‘Internet Marketing thing’ you and I are so wrapped up in, so this was all new to him.

But I asked him, ‘What if you received just TEN CENTS for each person who watched your videos…. that’s over $60,000 potentially’.

Fact is, he could do more or less than that depending on what he does… but the point is I wanted him to start thinking of those viewers as a potential source of income.

I wanted to change his perception of his ‘hobby’ so he could start to recognize the opportunity he had right in front of his nose.

I told him that the latest trend online (in fact it’s really always been this way) is to gather in ‘communities’, whether that is in a forum, message board, blog, or through FaceBook doesn’t really matter.

All Bruce has to do is start a blog and link his YouTube videos and forum posts back to it and he’ll start getting traffic… perhaps a lot of traffic.

Then he can convert that traffic into income with something as simple as Google’s Adsense program… or any number of other ways, like affiliate programs, or his own products.

What goldmine are YOU sitting on?

If you take a step back and realize that over the last 50 years in the US alone the local ‘community’ has practically vanished and our culture is much more into ‘virtual communities’ where they visit with people all around the country and the world through their PC (or MAC… if you’re into that, lol).

People are HUNGRY for connection and they are satisfying that hunger online today as much or more than in the ‘real world’.

As I left I told Bruce that if he didn’t follow the steps I suggested and put up a blog I’d drive back down to San Antonio and kick his ass :)

I want to see this guy do something with what he’s got here.

All he wants to do is follow the racing scene and get more into his passion for the sport… and now he has a way to do that.

YOU also probably have something you are passionate about that others are into and I bet there is a community of folks online searching for more ways to be involved.

Heck, even if Bruce doesn’t do a darn thing with what I told him tonight, I was inspired to blog more actively and share more information with you about how to do this kind of stuff.

It’s funny how life works like this…

Last night I was being interviewed on a teleseminar by my friend Jillian Coleman (YourInternetCashMachine.com) and she asked me for my advice on how someone could get started building their list.

I said, go in forums in your niche and post, get involved in that community and have your posts link back to your site… it’s a classic and very simple strategy that is as old as Internet Marketing.

Here I am meeting someone who needs to hear just that advice not 24 hours later.

As I said last time… Internet Marketing does not have to be hard… it can be simple.

You may be too close to your own situation to see it (like the forest and the trees), but you are sitting on a goldmine in this crazy thing we call the Internet.

Don’t let all the product launches and info overload make you forget that or discourage you.

Keep it simple… and get started today.

Craig, I am in Pat’s unseminar elite class and you actually helped me out this morning. At that time, I really didn’t know who you were, but now I do. I just subscribed to your list and am going to turn my friends on to both your list and Pat’s because you both have been so helpful so I like to reciprocate when possible. I heard you tell this story in class today and I think it really was an eye opener for people who want to get into marketing, but don’t know what niche to get into. You and Pat both are very skilled at speaking to the general public in a very understandable way. I hope we can keep in touch and hopefully down the line I will be able to help you with something.

Great to see you in San Antonio, Craig!
Your presence was a wonderful addition.
    Great conversations!

Hey stranger…I’ve been checking your blog to find out what you were up to. I’m so glad to see you blogging again and will try to touch base.

It absolutely amazes me how many potential products are out there, just like this one! I have just finished Pat’s book and was impressed at it’s simplicity and no BS style. I have visited Pat’s blog and now yours.

I am trying too hard to come up with new niche ideas for ebooks and products. I like how Pat really drilled in to you the “problem” and “solution” approach. That is “dead-on”. I now need to go out and find lots of problems that people are searching on and come up with the solution (ebook).

Having been in the golf niche online for 7 years now, I think I have “brain-fog” for coming up with new niches that would be profitable.
