The ‘list and email’ bootcamp you ALMOST never heard about… not if I can help it!

on October 13th, 2006

I haven’t eaten for 5 days, I’m totally immersed in working on new material for my coaching program, but I gotta tell you about this today…

Nevermind why I haven’t had a solid bite of food in so long I could eat my hand… that’s not important right now (I’ll tell you all about that next time).

Before you go off into the weekend, I want to run this by you. Let me take a step back and explain…

See, as you may know this past summer I took my family on an RV vacation for almost two months!

That’s the longest vacation I’ve ever had in my life… no kidding.

I got to turn off the laptop and the cell phone and take my shoes off at the lake with my wife and my boys. The boys may have grumbled some times along the way… but I know they’ll never forget the memories we gave them. How many parents today can say that?

Precious few. What made that possible for me?

One thing.

My expertise in list marketing, without a doubt.

Before I knew how to turn lists into consistent and steady ‘paychecks’ I never had the freedom I have now.

Anyone with a day job (even six figure ones like I had) know that bosses won’t let you take off that long… if at all.

Being chained to a desk is NOT living, but most people have no choice. I know, I’m not telling you anything new.

So, it’s no coincidence that 87% of the questions I get from subscribers are about ‘how do I build a list?’

That knowledge is pure gold and everyone knows it because it means FREEDOM. Bottom line…

If you just learn this one piece of the Internet marketing puzzle… the rest can fall in place.

That’s why I like to invite you to live events — the only place right now where I’m teaching my list and email methods…

…step by step how to go from ground zero to clicking ’send’ and pulling in huge paydays.

In fact, I recently I spoke at an unforgettable workshop here in Austin… but I never got to invite you because it sold out before I had a chance.

I felt bad about that. The folks there raved about how empowered they were by what they experienced and you missed out.

I don’t want that to happen again…

So… when my good friend Ryan Deiss invited me to speak at his upcoming bootcamp that is 100% focused on list building, lead generation and email marketing… I knew I had to tell you about it

(see http://www.maverickmarketer.com/ryan)

Ryan’s only letting 100 marketers attend, which is good news for those who get in… but I know a bunch of seats are already sold so here’s the thing…

You may not know Ryan but I KNOW he can sell out that entire event TWICE with his list alone (kinda proof that he knows what he’s talking about, huh).

So I told him I wanted to have some of my people there and it is important to me for a couple of key reasons…

First, after this event I am not planning on speaking again about lists and email any time soon… certainly not until next year.

Second, because this event is so specialized, I get to dig deeper into my ‘email marketing’ material (including advanced stuff), than I ever have publicly before.

Third, I’ve recently made some new discoveries based on literally 5 years of research that I’ll be sharing at Ryan’s for perhaps the only time outside of my coaching program.

I’d never get to cover this kind of material at a more ‘general topic’ seminar. The small bootcamp format is perfect, though.

So I want to invite you to come and let you know that Ryan’s got a major savings on his tickets until the 18th of October.

Time’s almost up… spaces are (no joke) going like hot cakes.

Oh, I must be an ego maniac… I haven’t even touched on how much I’m looking forward to what Ryan is going to share… Frankly, it includes proprietary stuff from his thriving niche businesses that I know he’s never shared before.

Besides, the other speakers in his bootcamp line up are folks you probably won’t get a chance to hear anywhere else… and they’re all VERY serious players. Really, there’s too much to do them justice in this quick post… check out what you’d be missing if you don’t go at…

http://www.maverickmarketer.com/ryan

But I will say this…

Too many products and ‘gurus’ only talk about stuff that applies to the Internet niche. Not good… MANY of my subscribers and my projects are in totally different markets.

That’s why this event is so cool…

Me, Ryan, and the other speakers all teach proven methods that work in a ANY valid niche.

Let me put it this way, I’m speaking at this event, but I would have gone anyway.

Professionally, I’d be crazy not to be there. The line up and the focus of the event is that good. Anyway, you may have noticed I’ve been pretty quiet lately… I’m working on some really cools stuff for my coaching program…

But Ryan emailed me and said if I wanted to invite my people before the October 18th deadline, time is running out.

He’s right… November is right around the corner and you DO NOT want to miss this event. Imagine what FINALLY mastering list and email marketing can do for you and your business.

It’s EXACTLY the kind of training my subscribers have asked for… you’ll get a rare opportunity to truly absorb the very secrets that have allowed me to afford things like RV trips with my family.

(You know, I wasn’t born knowing this stuff either… I learned the hard way and from mentors along the way… this stuff isn’t over your head).

Hey, we’re going out to California next summer… seeing Mount Rushmore and all that… I don’t know if that sounds fun to you or not, but I bet you’d love to pick up and do what YOU want next summer.

Come with me to Ryan’s and let’s get you the tools to make that happen…

Remember, there are way less than 100 seats left and a significant deal expires on October 18th.

As I like to say, ‘Procrastination is futile’ :) You need to learn this stuff to be successful online and this is a great opportunity to get what you need all in one weekend.

Check it out… even if you can’t go, Ryan’s letter is 100% Maverick and worth a good read.

http://www.maverickmarketer.com/ryan

I hope to see you there!

Craig

P.S. I asked Ryan why he was only allowing 100 people to attend (when he could easily get twice that amount), and he said it had everything to do with the final session he’s presenting at the event (the "Bonus Session").

(You can see a description of all the sessions by going to the site… http://www.maverickmarketer.com/ryan …and scrolling down about half-way.)

He didn’t go into detail, but I got the impression that he’ll be sharing some seriously top-secret stuff. I for one am looking forward to hearing what he has to say.

Why list building used to irritate me… and a no brainer resource

on August 9th, 2006

Picking up where I left off yesterday…

I remember back when I first got started in marketing online I kept hearing everywhere that you should build a list.

It sounds funny because I’m now widely known as one of the leading experts on how to really make money with an opt in email list, but I used to get irritated whenever I heard ‘the money is in the list.’

Why?

Because back in 1998 when I took my first steps online I didn’t know the first thing about HOW to build a list. It just ticked me off that everyone said the key to making money required me to have something I didn’t know how to do.

What was worse… there was precious little training available on how to do it ‘right’.

List building, as a topic, includes a whole bunch of topics, including traffic generation, market research, persuasion, the art of copywriting, and email marketing… not to mention spam and opt in best practices.

Most ‘gurus’ talk about list building in a couple of paragraphs in their home study course on Internet Marketing… they tell you it’s essential and then leave you to figure out the details.

Well, the devil is not only in the details, but you’ll get a good thrashing as you wander around trying to figure it all out by yourself.

That’s why I got so ticked… stop telling me to build a list and show me how the *&%^$ to do it, that was my attitude.

Well, nobody did, so I went and figured it out the slow hard way.

No need for you to do that. These days, you’ve got choices.

In fact, Glen Hopkins, a great guy and behind the scenes list building guru and Internet Marketer recently interviewed me about list building, email marketing and building that all important relationship with your list.

It was part of a special series he’s doing with a few other top marketers and we covered some important ground in that interview. Glen is an insightful interviewer and dragged what I believe are some of my best secrets out of me on that call… including several controversial comments I kind of wish now I had kept to myself.

I wish I could give you the audio of the call but I can’t, it’s part of a special bonus package Glen’s put together so I can’t just post it on my blog.

Well, yesterday I told you I’d be digging up resources to help you build your list?

Today I’m happy to tell you about Glen’s excellent ‘how to’ list building book called, "Lucrative List Building", which he just launched yesterday on Amazon… along with over $4,000 in meaningful bonuses.

I know, that’s pretty much a no brainer… a solid book for less than $14 and you get over $4,000 in targeted bonuses.

Glen’s book launch timing is perfect because I got a bunch of emails from people yesterday in response to my blog post that they’d like a real 1,2,3 list building how to but they didn’t have time to commit to a teleseminar series.

Well, Glen’s new book is a great choice.

He walks you through and shows you what all the pieces of ‘Lucrative Listbuilding’ are… which is something I could really have used back when I got started.

So, if you’re starting out and want to get someone who knows what they’re talking about to show you the way in a book you can hold in your hands… take this opportunity to get Glen’s book and take advantage of the hefty pile of bonuses at Amazon, too.

Here’s the landing page where you can order and claim your bonuses

P.S. Tomorrow I’m leaving for Michel Fortin’s (and soon to be Sylvie Fortin’s) wedding in Ottawa. Hopefully I’ll get some great pics to put on the blog… it’s going to be a magical and memorable weekend for everyone.

What I learned about marketing after living in a 39 foot rolling box for nearly two months…

on August 8th, 2006

"Hey stranger, how you been?"

That’s the comment I’ve been getting from just about everyone these days.

Followed closely by, "hey, you grew a goatee!"

(My friend Pat OBryan calls this my ‘outlaw’ look… it’s a whole separate story)

You might be wondering what this has to do with Internet Marketing… don’t worry, I’ll get to that in a minute.

If you’re a regular reader of this blog you know that back in May I left on an RV trip with my wife and our three boys and a clean shave.

We hitched up and took Interstate 20 through Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and the Carolinas, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, and landed in Vermont for about 6 weeks on Aimee’s grandmother’s farm under a HUGE maple tree.

You may recall that much of the north east USA was drenched in rain through May and June, so at first our decision to ‘road trip’ from sunny Texas seemed a lot less than brilliant for a while.

But we had to remember that the whole reason we bought the RV was to give Sam, Ethan and Hayden a glimpse of the childhood we knew growing up in small town Vermont.

Aimee’s father runs an all organic cattle herd 15 strong on the 90 acre farm that we stayed at and the boys all simply loved it.

For starters, Hayden, our unstoppable 3 year old (the one who’s become famous for his 3 surgeries and a broken arm, all documented on this very blog) had his birthday in Vermont and got his very own battery powered John Deere tractor from his Papa (Aimee’s Dad), Robert.

At first, he scared the living daylights out of us all because he’d put the thing in ‘fast gear’ and matt the pedal, zooming off at a rockin’ 4 miles per hour (which doesn’t sound like much until you realize your 3 year old is headed for a stone wall while not looking at ALL where he’s going).

As you can see from the picture above, he did master driving the mean green machine (within hours) and was practically a NASCAR driver, never really having an accident (if you don’t count falling head over heals after stopping too fast while driving standing up).

By the end of the summer, Hayden was jumping his little tractor off the stonewall and dropping 2ft with a huge smile and zooming past us, our jaws dropped and our hands covering our eyes.

Our 9 year old, Ethan, had Tom Sawyer/Huck Finn sort of summer as he discovered the joys of nature on Lake Champlain in Vermont.

See, Ethan has grown up watching where he steps because in Texas we have hot hot hot summers with fire ant hills everywhere.

Don’t get me wrong, we love Austin, but Ethan really came into his own on the farm in the softer, gentler, greener, fire-ant-free pastures.

I know, I could show you the picture of Ethan riding his bike or carving sticks into spears, or climbing trees, or catching 13 fish in 90 minutes off one boat dock… but this picture of him with a dandelion will get more of a reaction out of him when he reads this blog :)

But I’ll share this one of him having a blast on a real tractor, too.

Sam, the 14 year old ‘man on the scene’ also had an inspired summer visiting the farm, though his escapades included mowing endless grass on a riding mower (his first shot at a motorized set of wheels for a while) and capping anything foolish enough to move with his air-soft gun (think BB gun with plastic BB’s for, uh, safety).

Sure, he mastered the canoe and cleaned a barn and did all sorts of amazing things… like earn enough money to buy a 60 GB video IPOD with a ton of accessories.

(Sadly, the scum sucking pig dogs at Coyotego.com chose to rip him off and never deliver the said IPod or respond in any way, so if you find their site, may I suggest you NOT order from them… even though they appear to have the best prices). Yes, Paypal is attempting to get Sam’s money back.

I think, though, that Sam’s brightest moments were when he hung out with Hayden and Ethan, here caught in a rare candid photo op.

Now, you might be wondering what this has to do with Internet Marketing… and I don’t blame you, since for most of the time we spent in Vermont I had no (or very limited) connectivity.

(I’m STILL catching up on email now that we’re back in Austin… )

And, spending Father’s day with my dad, Aimee’s dad, and Aimee’s brother Andy (also a dad) doesn’t appear to have much to do with Internet Marketing… though the pancakes with real farm fresh maple syrup and McKenzie ham and organic bacon cooked in an iron skillet over an open fire "cowboy style" was unbelievably good.

And, witnessing a four generation family gathering as Aimee’s grandmother turned 80, surrounded by just about every living relative in Vermont on her side of the family certainly had nothing to do with Internet Marketing, though I’ll never forget the sparkle in Barbara’s eye when she was opening her presents.

And… seeing this crazy image of an Amish horse and buggy in traffic with a big Ford pick up on a magical day trip near Lancaster Pennsylvania had absolutely had nothing to do with the Internet.

Nor did this truly crazy picture of Hayden sitting on an Amish buggy at a ‘tourist shop’ near Lancaster with a HUGE Amish guy looming overhead seem to have much to do with Internet Marketing (though I thought of this blog when I took the pic).

Nope.

Technically, none of this stuff has much to do with the Internet or marketing… but if you look at this next picture, I’ll explain where I’m going with all this.

See, that’s Hayden and Ethan on the tire swing Aimee hung on the maple tree next to our RV… and I don’t think I’ve ever seen those two happier together. It’s a scene that Norman Rockwell couldn’t have painted more vividly in my brain.

I will always remember this summer as a big, rolling celebration of Independence from the Rat Race.

In contrast, had I stayed in the ‘rat race’ my wife and my boys would have missed out on this trip.

The rat race is where I’d be if I hadn’t gotten the help I’ve had from mentors of all kinds who guided me to where I am today.

Truth is, there were times in the last ten years of my marriage when we would have considered this summer an impossible dream.

I realized, some time between Texas and Vermont and back, that at every RV park (which were nothing like what you may have seen in ‘RV’ the movie with Robin Williams) I saw folks 10, 20, 30 or more years older than I am.

The biggest demographic buying RV’s today are Boomers and Snow bird retirees headed south… not 37 year olds with a wife and young kids, for the most part. Yet, many, many folks over 50 are in no position to take off for two months from work.

As I said a few months ago, this trip was something I’ve always wanted to do… I had some revelations along the way that extend beyond my family time right into my ‘marketing mind.’

And, one of the outward manifestations of that is my new goatee… something that I also never had before.

Don’t worry, I’m still the same ‘Maverick’ and I don’t take myself too seriously.

But I do have a new appreciation for the importance of what I teach… and not to get ‘mushy’ on ya, but I have a sense of being on a mission.

After our wonderful stay in Vermont (the weather notwithstanding) I had several driving days to reflect on what I’d say to you when I got back.

And I thought about what the most important thing was that made the trip possible.

You might guess it is my laptop (close, but no cigar).

Or, perhaps our truck and RV (yes, but that’s not it).

Or, diesel fuel, and lots of it? (No, but that is getting closer to the heart of the matter).

Freedom provided by my knowledge of Internet Marketing and more specifically, list building.

The time away, the diesel, the RV, and everything else you can think of, including the laptop I’m using to write these words to you… all come courtesy of something I didn’t have a decade ago when I first wanted to travel the country like this.

In a way I had not experienced in years, I felt a sense of urgency to focus on what really matters and serve you by showing you the path to freedom.

More than ever, I’m dedicating this blog and my newsletter to passing on whatever I can to you so that you can breakthrough to whatever freedom means to you. I’ve got a highly selected series of things I’ll be sharing with you in the coming days and weeks.

So here’s my lesson for today…

Do whatever it takes in the next week to start building a list of your own (or to make the one you have more profitable by 100%)

Everything else you study in Internet Marketing, including copywriting, Adsense, traffic, website design, etc., all comes back to this core truth: if you don’t have a list, you don’t have a long term business…

With a list, you have traffic on demand, giving you the ability to create sales and revenue from thin air…

Without a list, you have to hope you can advertise, get traffic, JV, or do something every month to bring in the money just to pay the bills.

Doesn’t sound like FREEDOM to me.

FEEDOM comes when you always have targeted prospects for what you offer right on your own opt in list.

That’s why I immediately agreed when Harris Fellman, of ‘12 week Intensive’ fame, asked me to participate in his new ‘BETTER Than FREE’ List Building Intensive (LBI for short).

It’s a great series of calls where Harris gets top marketers in their respective fields together and grills them to reveal their secrets… for free… Harris has his own unique style that not only informs, but entertains as well.

See, I’m not going to just preach ‘go build a list’ or ‘the money is in the list’ like you hear all the time.

I’m going to focus on digging up the best resources to help you do that… and the List Building Intensive is worth checking out right away.

I first introduced Harris and his ‘12 Week Intensive’ on this blog last December and since then, he’s become literally famous for his high energy, outrageous style, and ‘no punches pulled’ format for his calls.

Now, I’ll let Harris explain why this new List Building Intensive is ‘Better than FREE’, but I’ve got to tell you right now is the time to sign up.

See, the first call is TONIGHT, August 8th. Sign up, even if you can’t make it… (and I apologize for the last minute notice).

Whether you have a list and would like to increase your profits or are just starting out and stumped about what to do next… jump on this ‘Better than FREE’ List Building Intensive and you’ll not only hear me on one of the calls, but a dynamic and successful line up of other folks you don’t want to miss.

Get the whole story at: http://www.maverickmarketer.com/lbi

Here’s to your FREEDOM.
